Flush sensors have a metal shielding sleeve around the sensor tip, allowing them to be mounted flush with surrounding metal without false triggering, though this limits their sensing distance. Non-flush sensors lack this sleeve, require a metal-free clearance zone around the tip, but provide up to 50% longer sensing ranges.

NAMUR sensors are 2-wire devices that change their internal resistance when detecting metal. Connect the positive terminal of the sensor to terminal 1 (+) and the negative terminal to terminal 2 (-) of the KFD2 barrier. The barrier supplies 8V DC, monitors current draw (under 1.2mA for blocked, over 2.1mA for unblocked), and switches its output relays.

Connect the white TEACH-IN programming wire (Pin 5) to -U (0V) or +U (+24V) to define the limits. Position the target object at the desired near limit (zero point) and connect Pin 5 to 0V. Then, position the target at the far limit (span point) and connect Pin 5 to +24V. Disconnect the programming wire to save the settings.
